The place where the Nakdong River winds around the village, and when you look down from the sky, it resembles a lotus flower floating on the water. Hahoe Village, which has been continuing since the early days of Joseon, is the most Korean village in South Korea, having been listed by UNESCO as a 'Korean History Village' in 2010. That is what makes Hahoe Village special, a village where people still live.

Legend has it that in 676, a paper-folded phoenix bowed in its seat. It is said that a costume ambassador was founded, the Bongjeong Temple. It harbors the oldest wooden structure in Korea, the Porakjeon (National Treasure No. 15), and is still a living Sansa practiced by monks. In 2018, it was listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site with seven Sansasas in Korea.

The man whose last words were a plum blossom, Emperor Toegye. The place where the best psychologist in Joseon, Emperor Toegye, raised his pupils. Dosan Seowon was an educational institution and a space where we thought about nature as a friend. In 2019, it was listed by UNESCO as a “Korean Seowon” with Byungsan Seowon.

The Byeongsan Seowon was sitting on a cliff overlooking the Nakdong River, facing the open Byeongsan Mountain. Built in honour of the middle Joseon Dynasty university student Seo Ae Ryu Seong Ryong, it is characterized by the embrace of pristine nature in its architecture without a single ornate decoration. Along with Dosan Seowon, it was listed as UNESCO's “Seowon in Korea” in 2019.

Andong, which has actively embraced the flow of Asian cultural history and has led the history of Korean culture — We will make Andong a new and future World Heritage Site on the occasion of the World Heritage Exhibition.
On an autumn night, fire glows over the waters of the Nakdong River and the winds of the sunbeams reverberate four hundred years ago, and Andong in October becomes a stage in itself. Four UNESCO-recognized World Heritage Sites — Hahoe Village, Bongjeongsa Temple, Dosanseowon, and Byeongsanseowon - will be transformed into a story space that lives and breathes during the 17 days of the celebration.
The Opening Ceremony celebrates the “Mecca of Asian Cultural Values, Andong,” and the Closing Ceremony adopts a vision for creating Asian values. Historical and cultural festivals between East and Central Asia — Andong and Samarkand meet.
