Hahoe Village — 600 Years of Life in a Waterstones Village

Where the Nakdong River flows through the village. Since ancient times, it has been considered to be the name of the ‘softening incidental form’ where lotus flowers seem to float on the water. It is a representative clan village where Mr. Ryu of Pungsan has lived for generations, and it retains the life, architecture, and Confucian tradition that have been going on since the early Joseon Dynasty. In 2010, along with Gyeongju Yangdong Village, it was listed on the UNESCO World Heritage List as "History Village of Korea: Hahoe and Yangdong". That the centuries-old mansion is not just an exhibit, but that the lives of its inhabitants continue today! That's why Hahoe Village is recognized as a traditional village that represents the whole world.

Lower Seonyu rope fire play

Hundreds of flames bloom above the Pine Grove Mansongjeong and a few rows across the Nakdong River between the bouillons, which are about 64 meters high. The cliffs of the vouillon open up “daffodils” that throw down bursts of fire, and “egg fires” that light up the eggshells float leisurely above the river. The old foremen floated underneath it, sharing poems and drinks, and enjoying the nightlife. It is a traditional fireworks display of Hahoe Village that combines row fire, daffodils, egg fire, and seonyu.

Hahoe Tal and Hahoe Byung Shin Gutal Play

Traditional tal of our country was usually made with bagazines or paper and burned after the play was over, but Hahoe Tal was cut and made of wood, lacquered with several layers, and cherished in the village and used for star-goods. The taboos and restrictions on dressing are also very strict and have been kept as something special with rituals. The exact production date is unknown, but it is presumed to have been made in the Goryeo era, and a total of 11 dislocations are currently being handed out, including two points of Yangban, Seonbi, Zhong, Baekjeong, Imagine, Chorangyi, Bune, Gakshi, Halmital, and State Railways.

Tales of Hurdo-ryeong

Hahoe Village tells the old story of the birth of Hahoe Tal. According to legend, Heo had received revelations from the Spirit, and while making clothes, he kept the taboo that no one should approach him while making them. However, it is said that a maiden who longed for Hurdo-ryeong secretly peered at the work without winning the longing, and the taboo was broken, and Hurdo-ryeong died without completing the last Imatal. So today, we talk about the reason why Imatal has no chin in connection with this tale. According to the tradition, the maiden also passed away in sorrow, and it is also told that the villagers comforted the spirits of the two and served as guardian gods. Behind the cheerful expressions and satire of Haheital, these stories of sacred taboos and affectionate love are told together.

Bouillons and Mansongjeong

When you go to the bouillon school, which means lotus flower, you can see the Nakdonggang flowing through Hahoe Village at a glance. It is said that Mansongjeong Forest across the river was formed by planting numerous pine trees in the Joseon Dynasty to complement the feng shui energy of the village. Mansongjeong Forest, which has been sharing the landscape of Hahoe Village and Nakdong River for many years, was designated as a natural monument in 2006.

Yangjin Dang · Chung Hyo Dang

Yangjin-dang, designated as a treasure, is the grand jongga of Pungsan Ryu-si and the long home of Hyeom Ryuun-ryong, and Chung Hyodang is the long home of Chancellor Seoae Ryu Seong-ryong, who played a major role in overcoming Imjin War. Under the vuillon college across the river, there is the Okyeonjeongsa, who is said to have stayed and written "Jingbi Rock." There are traces of the life, scholarship, and responsibility for the country of Pungsan Ryu, a famous Joseon family, throughout Hahoe Village. In Yangjin-dang, there are still two shrines, Yipam Ryu Joong-young and Hyungam Ryuun-ryong.
