Dosan Seowon
"Water the Plum"
The man whose last words were a plum blossom, Emperor Toegye.
The place where the best psychologist in Joseon, Emperor Toegye, raised his pupils. Dosan Seowon was an educational institution and a space where we thought about nature as a friend. In 2019, it was listed by UNESCO as a “Korean Seowon” with Byungsan Seowon.
Dosanseo-dang Plaque and Agricultural Unjeongsa
Toegye Teacher's handwritten plaque on the south wall of the Seodang — 'Mountain' is engraved with hieroglyphics that mimic the shape of a real mountain. The Nongunjeongsa stands out for its thoughtful design so that the older pupils stay in the east room and the younger pupils stay in the west room so that there is no pressure on each other.
Sisadan and Fisherman's Division
In 1792, Jeongjo held a special past exam (Dosanbyeon Division) at Dosan Seowon in memory of Toegye's school work. When he was in danger of being drowned in the construction of the Andong Dam in 1974, he built a 10-meter-high stone shaft and moved the old buildings and tombstones, creating an unusual landscape that now seems to float alone on the river.
Do-san 12 songs
It is twelve songs that sang the inspirations and rams that Mr. Toegye felt while dealing with things in Dosanseowon in his lifetime. I dreamed of building a Korean cigar that anyone could sing, not just a difficult one, so that everyone could sing together beyond their status and age.
